In a bald cypress wetland preserve, where trees of ancient lineage survive despite being surrounded by over developed land, I was inspired to make the
'Seeking Sustenance' paintings revealing the mythic, mysterious ecosystem as I experienced it.

Standing like sentinels around individual trees to which they connect underground, knobby, vertical forms resembling figures store carbon, helping to sustain the trees and the endangered ecosystem.
